FDM
Fused deposition modelling is Opus Aether Manufacturing’s primary process for functional parts and production work.

What it is
Fused deposition modelling is Opus Aether Manufacturing’s primary process for functional parts and production work.
FDM is the route through our material catalogue. The material is chosen for the part’s intended environment and function after review.
What it is best for
- Parts where strength and function lead the decision.
- Fixtures, enclosures, brackets and other working geometry.
- One-off parts and repeat production from the same reviewed file.
What it is not for
This matters as much as the feature list. Choosing the wrong process can make the part less useful before material and geometry are even reviewed.
- The finest visual detail where a smooth surface is the main requirement.
- Small display parts whose surface finish matters more than function.
How we handle it
Our tooling analyses the geometry and prepares the manufacturing route from the reviewed file. A person still reviews the result before anything runs.
The automated route makes the decision trail repeatable. Review keeps it accountable to the actual part.
How to choose
Start with the part’s priority. Choose FDM when strength and function lead. Choose resin when fine detail and surface finish lead. If both matter, send the geometry and describe the result that matters most; we will make the trade-off visible in review.
