Robotics and automation
End effectors, manipulator links, sensor and camera mounts, cable management, guards and soft-touch grippers. Parts move constantly, so wear, backlash at joints and cable strain decide the design more than static strength.
Materials we would shortlist
- PA6-CF
The default for links and end effectors that must hold alignment through repeated motion.
- PA6
Considered where a running surface benefits from a lower-friction, tougher material.
- TPU-95A
Reviewed for gripper faces, bump guards and cable strain relief.
- PETG
Practical for guards and covers where the part is protective rather than structural.
Design notes for this job
- Tell us the duty cycle. A part that moves once a minute and one that moves once a second are different jobs in the same geometry.
- Name the mating hardware, bearings, inserts and fasteners, so clearances are reviewed rather than assumed.
- We have made manipulator components before, and the bench corrections fed back into the model. See the workshop record.
